Columbine Hall Gardens
Sunday 16th August 2026, 10.30am
Columbine Hall, Stowupland, Stowmarket, Suffolk IP14 4AT
Our late summer outing takes us to the enchanting Columbine Hall Gardens, a medieval moated manor surrounded by beautiful, varied planting. Head gardener Kate will lead us on a guided tour, sharing insights into the history, design, and care of these inspiring spaces.
Within the moat, we’ll find a striking formal layout of hornbeam hedges, pleached limes and bold flower beds inspired by the graphic blocks of 1960s men’s ties. Beyond, the walled kitchen garden offers a riot of themed borders, while the bog garden transforms an old ditch into a winding stream edged with ferns, garlic, and moisture-loving plants.
This is a garden that blends structure, colour, and naturalistic charm, offering something to delight at every turn. As always, we’ll round off our visit with tea and cake — the perfect chance to relax and chat together in these historic surroundings.
