Suffolk Master Composter David Wright

Our first meeting of the new year and we have David Wright, a master composter, coming to chat to us about home composting. There are so many ways to compost our garden waste and food waste and David will guide us through the do’s and don’t’s.
Chestnut Farm, Holt

Judy Wilson and her husband have owned Chestnut Farm for 60 years. Thus most of the planted trees and shrubs have reached maturity. The latest planting in the arboretum is a Chinese Wingnut tree and a Handkerchief tree of which they are very proud. The garden is wildlife friendly and they may have plants for sale too.

Horstead House, owned by Caroline Fleming, has a stunning display of beautiful snowdrops that carpet their woodland setting. They also have a small walled garden and to top it off, dogwoods growing on a small island in the River Bure, which flows through the garden.
Westacre Gardens

West Acre Gardens is in a lovely old walled garden and the extensive display gardens have year round interest and beauty. There are mixed borders, specimen shrubs and trees, ornamental grasses and bamboos, a Mediterranean garden and a lovely shade garden. You will find plants for every garden situation and aspect to inspire you with fresh ideas. Seats are situated around the garden, so you can relax and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of our rural setting. Many of the original features of the garden still grace it with a sense of timelessness.

Barbara started her photography career more than 18 years ago and is dedicating a large part of her work to raise awareness and funds for endangered big cat species and also for British wildlife. She will be talking to us about the Wildlife of East Anglia amongst other stories.
Suffolk Prickles Hedgehog Rescue

Treating around 300 hedgehogs every year. Suffolk Prickles firmly believes that every sick, injured or orphaned hedgehog should receive the highest quality care. An average stay costs around £80 per hedgehog. The rescue is run solely by volunteers who give up their free time to help out. We will have a raffle and plant sale to raise funds for them - we would appreciate donations of prizes and plants, seeds, anything garden related to sell or raffle please
